A Rowena Plateau Wedding
Rebecca + Aaron’s Columbia River Gorge elopement was one for the books. The couple shared a small ceremony overlooking the Columbia River on the Rowena Plateau Trail at Tom McCall Preserve just over an hour outside of Portland, Oregon. The Rowena Plateau is a piece of majestic public land managed by the Nature Conservancy, Mayer State Park and the forestry service.
Their elopement was truly special because their friends and family travelled from afar, and also contributed their efforts to make the day happen. Some of the highlights of their intimate elopement included one of their good friends officiating the wedding. I’ve noticed that having a loved one officiate a wedding is becoming common for elopements. Here is a helpful article from Oregon Brides on How to Legally Officiate a Wedding. The bride’s hair and make-up was done by the bride’s close friend, and the floral was designed by the bride herself. Rebecca is a talented florist!
We had an inclement weather back-up at The Historic Hood River Hotel, but luckily the weather gods were on our side (may have been the weather dance I did earlier that week). The day was perfect, very light winds which is rare for the gorge and pristine overcast gray skies for the quintessential PNW photos. Congrats Rebecca + Aaron! It was an honor to photography your remarkable day!
